Let Me Live

As the summer is coming to an end and school is about to start again, I wanted to take one last adventure with a friend. What better place than Adventure Aquarium in Camden.

IMG_1904

I went with my friend Tommy, who just started his own blog called Let Me Live, so go check out his blog and give him some love!

IMG_2016

Tommy and I went to high school together, but now he is a student at Monmouth University and he is studying Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing. As a student, Tommy has his own unique style and I decided to ask him about it.

IMG_2002

What does “style” mean to you?

“Style is when someone has his or her own uniqueness to their outfit. Everyone has style, but everyone has different kinds of style, if you know what I mean haha. For example, I wear a lot of t-shirts but I choose to buy the ones that have graphics or writing on them because even though it is a basic t-shirt it adds my personality on the t-shirt.”

IMG_2048

How would you describe your personal style?

“If you know my personality, that is how you would kind of describe my style. I like cool colors and graphics, but also clean cut clothing so nothing too big or nothing too tight. I try to be comfortable as much as possible in my clothes but still look decent in my clothes because why wear something that is not comfortable?”

IMG_2115.JPG

What is one piece of clothing/accessory you can’t live without or has a special meaning to you?

“For some reason, I always have my backpack with me. I always seem to have something to carry, either it is a book or my laptop or even my friends’ personal things. Also, since I have an Android phone, people never have my charger so I always just put it in my backpack just in case.”

IMG_2192

Tommy and I had so much fun exploring the aquarium and the Waterfront in Camden.

Here are just a few of the pictures from our trip.

My white and blue romper is from Old Navy.

IMG_2119

I decided to pair the romper with my favorite summer accessories which you have seen in posts before. My sandals are from TJ Maxx and my bag is from & Other Stories.

Be sure to check out Let Me Live, Tommy’s blog, and read the collab post he wrote on there!

If you like these kind of collaboration posts where I ask my fellow students questions, let me know and I will be sure to do many more.

Vacation Diaries: Missing the Beach

It has been about a month since my last post, and I am so sorry. After getting back from vacation I have been swamped with work and preparing for the upcoming school year. I did want to share one last outfit post from my week in Brigantine.

IMG_1692.JPG

I found this dress at a cute shop on the Ocean City boardwalk when my parents and I spent the night there, I wrote a post about our night there. This purple off the shoulder dress is perfect for day or night. I tried to keep my look casual for a day out in the town. I paired the dress with these lace up sandals I found at TJ Maxx and my Raybans. I kept my makeup simple with just some BB cream with SPF and mascara, I don’t like feeling cake faced while at the beach.

IMG_1671.JPG

As much as I miss the relaxing beach and hanging out by the pool, I am very excited to get back to New York City for my third year. In just one short month, I will be reunited with the big apple and you will obviously come along on all my adventures. Stay tuned!

Life Update & OOTD

First of all, I’d like to say congrats to anyone who has graduated this spring! I just graduated myself with my associates degree last week, and will start my bachelors degree next fall. Check out my blog post talking about school here.

Today I wanted to give a little bit of an update to you guys! As you guys can see from these photos, I am not in New York City anymore. I have moved back home to New Jersey for the summer. I originally planned to stay in the city for the summer and continue working. Luckily, I was able to transfer to a store close to home.

If you didn’t know, I work for Kenneth Cole. This outfit is actually what I wore to my first day working at the new store yesterday. It was great day, and I am so excited to meet and work with a new group of great people this summer.

IMG_1230

My top is a Kenneth Cole button up that has slits up the front and back. I paired it with a plain pair of black leggings and a statement necklace for a pop of color.

IMG_1234

I also wore a pair of Kenneth Cole platforms and my favorite Ray Ban sunglasses.

IMG_1248

I am so excited for this summer. Expect tons of fun blog posts! If you don’t follow me on Instagram @styledstudent, I post photos all the time and you can stay updated with when new blog posts are up.

The High Line

One of the perks of a photography class in New York City is visiting fun places around the city. My class recently visited the High Line, one of my favorite spots.

IMG_0636.JPG

IMG_0639.JPG

If you have never heard of the High Line, it’s an old train track that was built in 1934 but stopped running in the 1980s. In 1999, the Friends of the High Line was founded by Joshua David and Robert Hammond. Residents of the High Line neighborhood came together to advocate for the High Line’s preservation and reuse as public open space.

In 2002, the renovations began and in 2004 it opened to the public as a park.

IMG_0640.JPG

IMG_0650.JPG

The wildlife and plants are so beautiful and you forget that just 30 feet below you are cars and tourist rushing around the city.

IMG_0652

IMG_0653

IMG_0675.JPG

My favorite thing to do while at the High Line is to people watch. While many tourist visit and enjoy the park, many New Yorkers can just relax.

IMG_0744.JPG

It wouldn’t be a Styled Student post without an outfit shot.

IMG_0755.JPG

The top I was wearing was a long striped t-shirt with splits up the sides from Zara, Forever 21 leggings, and my trusty Circus by Sam Edelman booties. I paired the look with a black jean jacket from Free People and my Kenneth Cole fringe handbag.

The High Line is such a cool park on the west side of New York City, if you haven’t been there yet, I would recommend visiting.

Monochrome in the Spring ~ 3.27.16

Happy Easter to all who celebrate it today.

Although I don’t celebrate Easter, I just wanted to share a quick Outfit Of The Day with you that is perfect for the holiday or any spring day.

My look for today is a monochrome look featuring dark denim and this gorgeous white top I found at Express. I also found another top at Express, check out the store because everything in the store is 40% off! This white top has two long panels that flow over the lower cropped section. I love these jeans I found at Urban Outfitters, also on sale! These are the most comfortable jeans I own and adorable with the split detail at the ankle, which shows off shoes perfectly.

IMG_0349.JPG

I added my favorite faux leather jacket that I have owned for years from Steve Madden. The black leather added a little edge to the girly and flowy top.

IMG_0356.JPG

Couldn’t leave the house without some sunglasses. These sunnies were actually a gift from my cousin Hope. I love the shape of these and how big they are to block the sun.

IMG_0352.JPG

I am in love with these new shoes from Kenneth Cole. They are super comfortable because of the wedge and the treaded sole. The combination of crocodile embossed leather and black espadrille wedge is so different and fun.

IMG_0354.JPG

This look is perfect for any spring day, whether you are spending it with friends at brunch or while spending Easter with family.

Spring Break in Mexico?!

Midterms are over and Spring Break is finally here. While some other college students may be partying on the beaches of Mexico, I’m just excited to head home for a few days. Before heading home, Abby and I decided to have one little adventure around the city.

We headed downtown near the World Trade Center and found an adorable Mexican restaurant called El Vez on Veset Street. Even though I could be in Mexico partying, I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant with mosaic benches and low hanging string lights.

The food was even better than the atmosphere! I ordered a chicken enchilada while Abby ordered a massive burrito, both of us bringing nearly half home!

IMG_0216

After lunch, we found this manmade park by the river.

IMG_0272

It wouldn’t be a Styled Student blog post without showing my outfit.

IMG_0234

I wanted to dress down this asymmetrical dress with a pair of Kenneth Cole white sneakers and my favorite accessory, a vest. If you have been reading since last spring, you know I love pairing vests with dressier looks to dress down the look.

IMG_0239

Don’t let my outfit of laugh confuse you, it was frigidly cold in New York City. I am ready for spring to permanently be here.

IMG_0244

I always have so much fun exploring new parts of the city and trying new restaurants. If you live in the city or have any recommendations on where to go next, let me know in the comments!

My next few posts will be about my few days back home for Spring Break. Make sure to check out my Instagram to stay updated on when I post new blogs.

Until Next Time..

Perfect Pier Day~ 3.12.16

When New York City gives you a beautiful day, you need to go out and take pictures, right?!

IMG_0009.JPG

Today my Abby and I went to the piers by the Hudson River to take advantage of the gorgeous weather. We found this one pier with this giant wheel that looked super cool, so we decided to check it out.

IMG_0013.JPG

My outfit includes a pair a comfortable black gypsy pants with a crop top from Forever 21. I added a light denim jacket and my Kenneth Cole sandals to complete the look.

IMG_0095.JPG

IMG_0085.JPG

I also wore my Prada sunglasses that I rented from Ditto.com. If you want to learn more about renting, check out my previous post!

IMG_0093.JPG

If you haven’t noticed already, I cut my hair super short! It was a super spontaneous decision after seeing tons of celebrities and bloggers chopping their locks off. So far I am loving my short hair! Let me know your thoughts about it!

IMG_0110.JPG

IMG_0107.JPG

IMG_0104.JPG

We also found a shop that rents kayaks, so maybe that will be our next sunny day adventure.

IMG_0178.JPG

We had an amazing time getting outdoors and exploring the piers. Sometimes we get caught up with work or school work and don’t get out enough, so getting the fresh air was much needed.

Hope you are all enjoying this spring weather!

Renting Sunglasses?!

As a college student, especially one who has an obsession for all things accessories, it’s difficult to splurge on designer items. A bag or shoes can be gorgeous, but us students can’t shell out hundreds of dollars for these luxury goods. We have other expenses, like textbooks, supplies, food, etc…

I recently discovered a site, Ditto.com,  where you can rent designer sunglasses for $24 a month, basically Netflix for sunglasses. These sunglasses range from Rayban to Mui Mui. I just got my first pair in the mail, which are these gorgeous Prada 0 PR 09 QS in black. These sunglasses retail for $385, but only cost $24 a month to rent.

image1.JPG

The best thing about Ditto, you can keep the glasses as long as you’d like! When you’re ready to exchange them for a new pair, swap them for a new pair. The new pair will arrive with a shipping label and you can send the old pair back.

image2.JPG

Let me know you’re thoughts on the idea of renting sunglasses! So far, I am in love!

Keep an eye out for my next post where I will be styling these sunglasses with a fun spring outfit.

Seams Lovely and Social Decay Event

Going to fashion school definitely has its perks, one being other students posting about events on the school’s Facebook page. Last week, I stumbled across a post for bloggers to attend an event for two up and coming clothing lines. … Continue reading

Trend: Winter White

Recently, someone asked me what I thought about the classic “No white after labor day trend”. So I thought I would share my answer with you.
I love believe “trends” are what you make them out to be. As someone who loves fashion, I like to interpret trends to fit my style. If a trend isn’t my style, I’m not going to go incorporate it into all my looks because it doesn’t represent me and my style.
One trend that I am all for though is winter white. Although it contradicts “no white after labor day”, winter white is classic and chic.
I love this look of winter white. I incorporated an oversized turtleneck sweater dress with a pair of camel thigh high boots. These thigh high boots have been everywhere and are a trend that I can support. They look great with dresses, like in this look, but also with your favorite skinny jeans and a top.
Winter White
For a little more white, I added furry white handbag. It adds a little texture and fun to this otherwise simple look.
What do you think of the winter white trend? Are you going to try it this season or stick to your darker colors?
