Let Me Live

As the summer is coming to an end and school is about to start again, I wanted to take one last adventure with a friend. What better place than Adventure Aquarium in Camden.

I went with my friend Tommy, who just started his own blog called Let Me Live, so go check out his blog and give him some love!

Tommy and I went to high school together, but now he is a student at Monmouth University and he is studying Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing. As a student, Tommy has his own unique style and I decided to ask him about it.

IMG_2002

What does “style” mean to you?

“Style is when someone has his or her own uniqueness to their outfit. Everyone has style, but everyone has different kinds of style, if you know what I mean haha. For example, I wear a lot of t-shirts but I choose to buy the ones that have graphics or writing on them because even though it is a basic t-shirt it adds my personality on the t-shirt.”

IMG_2048

How would you describe your personal style?

“If you know my personality, that is how you would kind of describe my style. I like cool colors and graphics, but also clean cut clothing so nothing too big or nothing too tight. I try to be comfortable as much as possible in my clothes but still look decent in my clothes because why wear something that is not comfortable?”

What is one piece of clothing/accessory you can’t live without or has a special meaning to you?

“For some reason, I always have my backpack with me. I always seem to have something to carry, either it is a book or my laptop or even my friends’ personal things. Also, since I have an Android phone, people never have my charger so I always just put it in my backpack just in case.”

Tommy and I had so much fun exploring the aquarium and the Waterfront in Camden.

Here are just a few of the pictures from our trip.

It wouldn’t be a Style Student post without outfit details!

My white and blue romper is from Old Navy.

IMG_2119

I decided to pair the romper with my favorite summer accessories which you have seen in posts before. My sandals are from TJ Maxx and my bag is from & Other Stories.

Be sure to check out Let Me Live, Tommy’s blog, and read the collab post he wrote on there!

If you like these kind of collaboration posts where I ask my fellow students questions, let me know and I will be sure to do many more.

Vacation Diaries: Missing the Beach

It has been about a month since my last post, and I am so sorry. After getting back from vacation I have been swamped with work and preparing for the upcoming school year. I did want to share one last outfit post from my week in Brigantine.

IMG_1692.JPG

I found this dress at a cute shop on the Ocean City boardwalk when my parents and I spent the night there, I wrote a post about our night there. This purple off the shoulder dress is perfect for day or night. I tried to keep my look casual for a day out in the town. I paired the dress with these lace up sandals I found at TJ Maxx and my Raybans. I kept my makeup simple with just some BB cream with SPF and mascara, I don’t like feeling cake faced while at the beach.

IMG_1671.JPG

As much as I miss the relaxing beach and hanging out by the pool, I am very excited to get back to New York City for my third year. In just one short month, I will be reunited with the big apple and you will obviously come along on all my adventures. Stay tuned!

Life Update & OOTD

First of all, I’d like to say congrats to anyone who has graduated this spring! I just graduated myself with my associates degree last week, and will start my bachelors degree next fall. Check out my blog post talking about school here.

Today I wanted to give a little bit of an update to you guys! As you guys can see from these photos, I am not in New York City anymore. I have moved back home to New Jersey for the summer. I originally planned to stay in the city for the summer and continue working. Luckily, I was able to transfer to a store close to home.

If you didn’t know, I work for Kenneth Cole. This outfit is actually what I wore to my first day working at the new store yesterday. It was great day, and I am so excited to meet and work with a new group of great people this summer.

IMG_1230

My top is a Kenneth Cole button up that has slits up the front and back. I paired it with a plain pair of black leggings and a statement necklace for a pop of color.

IMG_1234

I also wore a pair of Kenneth Cole platforms and my favorite Ray Ban sunglasses.

I am so excited for this summer. Expect tons of fun blog posts! If you don’t follow me on Instagram @styledstudent, I post photos all the time and you can stay updated with when new blog posts are up.

Casual Wedding OOTD

Hello Beauties!

Recently my aunt got married, Congrats Aunt Stacey! The wedding was small and took place at a local park, so I was excited for the challenge of what to wear for this special occasion. I didn’t want to go for a typical sun dress but I still wanted to dress up.

As the “photographer” for the day, I didn’t want to worry about a dress or skirt flying around. I found this tie dye jump suit and thought it would be perfect. Its casual but looked great with heels and loads of accessories.

These are my favorite summer wedges. They are a few years old from Lucky Brand, but so comfortable and worn in.They were the perfect heels to walk around the park in and run around while taking photos.

This bag may seem familiar. Thats because it is one of my creations! I made this bag last semester and thought it would be a great pop of color to add to the outfit.

I wore my hair up, because of the heat, in a halo braid. My necklace is from target. I am currently obsessed with this large layered necklace and have worn it with other everyday casual looks.

I know there is a lot going on in this look, but I love how the outfit turned out. What do you think?

Congratulations again to my aunt and her new husband.

Growing Your Own Clothes?

Hope you are all having a amazing summer so far!

This summer I am being a good college student and taking some extra classes at a local community college to transfer back to FIT. For one of my classes I had to research a topic to speak about. If you didn’t know, I am minoring in Ethics and Sustainability, so I chose to talk about that in the fashion industry.

As I was researching, I found this really cool fashion designer who grows her own material. Her name is Suzanne Lee and I wanted to share a video of her talking about her work.

Using green tea, sugar, and microbes, she creates a material that she uses to create her work. Lee also doesn’t use chemicals to color her fashion, instead she uses fruit and vegetable stains as well as indigo to create color.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Suzanne’s designs! I am amazed by her work and what she is doing in the fashion industry. Hopefully going forward, fashion becomes more eco-friendly. As I was researching I learned so much about the water and carbon footprint we are leaving, and people like Suzanne are helping to reduce it.
