The High Line

One of the perks of a photography class in New York City is visiting fun places around the city. My class recently visited the High Line, one of my favorite spots.

If you have never heard of the High Line, it’s an old train track that was built in 1934 but stopped running in the 1980s. In 1999, the Friends of the High Line was founded by Joshua David and Robert Hammond. Residents of the High Line neighborhood came together to advocate for the High Line’s preservation and reuse as public open space.

In 2002, the renovations began and in 2004 it opened to the public as a park.

The wildlife and plants are so beautiful and you forget that just 30 feet below you are cars and tourist rushing around the city.

My favorite thing to do while at the High Line is to people watch. While many tourist visit and enjoy the park, many New Yorkers can just relax.

It wouldn’t be a Styled Student post without an outfit shot.

The top I was wearing was a long striped t-shirt with splits up the sides from Zara, Forever 21 leggings, and my trusty Circus by Sam Edelman booties. I paired the look with a black jean jacket from Free People and my Kenneth Cole fringe handbag.

The High Line is such a cool park on the west side of New York City, if you haven’t been there yet, I would recommend visiting.
