Hello 2017!

Happy New Year beautiful!

new-years

It is finally 2017 and it is that time of year where everyone is ready to reinvent themselves and better themselves. But lets be real, you don’t need a new year to better yourself.

At the end of 2016, I decided to go back to my roots. LITERALLY (see New Years photo above with my dark hair!). But I also decided I wanted to make more of an effort to better myself and my future.

If you haven’t read my last post where I explain what I have been up to (here), then you wouldn’t know that at the end of October I lost my job. I was working at Kenneth Cole and unfortunately the store had closed. After the store closed, I got an internship at DVF in the fabric department working with two amazing bosses. I am continuing my 3 month internship through January 2017 and I will continue to learn and grow as a person. I also needed a weekend job to continue making enough money to live in New York City. I started  working at Anna Sui Downtown, the only Anna Sui store in the USA. Anna is an amazing designer with cool clothing pieces, a makeup line, and a fragrance line.

I’m sure everyone has heard of Sophia Amoruso, founder of Nasty Gal. In the beginning of 2016, I started reading her book #GirlBoss, and its an amazing motivator that shows you how she started her career. But towards the end of 2016, I started listening to her podcast of the same name where her and other woman who have amazing careers talk about their journey and how they got to where they are. If you haven’t listened to it before and you may be in a slump, I highly recommend listening to the podcast!

I believe 2017 is going to be a great year for not just me, but everyone. If you want to be a better person or you want to further your career, you need to put yourself out there. Whether its staying up all night and applying to every internship you can find or putting a little more effort into the job you already have for a promotion, you can do it!

I can’t wait to see what happens in these next 12 months!

Until next time…

Where Have I Been?!

About a year ago, I got the opportunity to start a job at an amazing store, Kenneth Cole in Soho. The past few months the store has been liquidating, and last week the store officially closed. Through working there I have made the most amazing friends and had so many great experiences.

But when one door closes another door opens. Starting Monday, I will be interning as a fabric assistant at an awesome design house. If you haven’t been reading my blog for awhile, you wouldn’t know that I started a new major this semester: Fabric Styling at FIT. Through this internship I will be doing some of the things I have been learning in my classes.

I will try to post more, about fashion and my experience interning. And I can’t post a blog with including some outfit inspiration, so here are some Fall looks I have been wearing the last few weeks.

Let Me Live

As the summer is coming to an end and school is about to start again, I wanted to take one last adventure with a friend. What better place than Adventure Aquarium in Camden.

IMG_1904

I went with my friend Tommy, who just started his own blog called Let Me Live, so go check out his blog and give him some love!

IMG_2016

Tommy and I went to high school together, but now he is a student at Monmouth University and he is studying Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing. As a student, Tommy has his own unique style and I decided to ask him about it.

IMG_2002

What does “style” mean to you?

“Style is when someone has his or her own uniqueness to their outfit. Everyone has style, but everyone has different kinds of style, if you know what I mean haha. For example, I wear a lot of t-shirts but I choose to buy the ones that have graphics or writing on them because even though it is a basic t-shirt it adds my personality on the t-shirt.”

IMG_2048

How would you describe your personal style?

“If you know my personality, that is how you would kind of describe my style. I like cool colors and graphics, but also clean cut clothing so nothing too big or nothing too tight. I try to be comfortable as much as possible in my clothes but still look decent in my clothes because why wear something that is not comfortable?”

IMG_2115.JPG

What is one piece of clothing/accessory you can’t live without or has a special meaning to you?

“For some reason, I always have my backpack with me. I always seem to have something to carry, either it is a book or my laptop or even my friends’ personal things. Also, since I have an Android phone, people never have my charger so I always just put it in my backpack just in case.”

IMG_2192

Tommy and I had so much fun exploring the aquarium and the Waterfront in Camden.

Here are just a few of the pictures from our trip.

It wouldn’t be a Style Student post without outfit details!

IMG_2118

My white and blue romper is from Old Navy.

IMG_2119

I decided to pair the romper with my favorite summer accessories which you have seen in posts before. My sandals are from TJ Maxx and my bag is from & Other Stories.

Be sure to check out Let Me Live, Tommy’s blog, and read the collab post he wrote on there!

If you like these kind of collaboration posts where I ask my fellow students questions, let me know and I will be sure to do many more.

Sephora Play Box- August 2016

Am I the only person who didn’t know Sephora had a subscription box?!

If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you would know I was subscribed to Ipsy Glam Bags for months and I would do reviews each month. I was staring to get bored of the products that Ipsy was sending, so when I saw the Play Box on Instagram I immediately looked it up on Google.

IMG_1868.JPG

For the same price as Ipsy, only $10 a month, I decided to cancel my Ipsy subscription and subscribe for Sephora’s makeup box. I am so happy that I did! The August box is my second from Play, sorry I didn’t review the first!

IMG_1866.jpg

First of all, the box it comes in is adorable with black and white stripes! When you first open the box, you get a pamphlet with 50 free rewards the next time you are at a Sephora store.

IMG_1872.JPG

When you open the pamphlet, you find all the information about the products and tips on how to use them.

IMG_1877.JPG

Like Ipsy, you get a little makeup bag or pouch with each box. This month the bag says “Wink outside the box” with some winking eyes. Last month was a cute popsicle for summer.

IMG_1879.JPG

The first item I pulled out was the Urban Decay Perversion mascara. I love trying new mascaras! I am pretty sure I haven’t tried the Perversion mascara yet, but I know Urban Decay has amazing mascaras that I have loved in the past.

IMG_1891.JPG

The next product I received was the Sephora Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear in Love Affair. I am so excited to try this waterproof eyeliner. The pretty plum color is great for a colorful smokey eye.

IMG_1888.JPG

Next is Make Up For Ever’s Artist Shadow in I-544. This color is going to look so beautiful with the Sephora eyeliner, mentioned above. I have never tried Make Up For Ever eye shadows but I have heard the are extremely pigmented.

IMG_1880.JPG

I love trying out new eye creams. This Algenis Eye Renewal Balm is suppose to help reduce dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles. While I don’t suffer with most of those, I believe it is important to start protecting your skin early.

IMG_1892.JPG

I know Lancome has great makeup, but I never tried their skin care. This Smoothing & Glowing Liquid Care Moisturizer is infused with goji berries and lemon balm to help your skin. I can’t wait to try this instead of my normal moisturizer.

IMG_1884.JPG

Along with the 4-5 products you receive, you will always receive a perfume to try out. This month was the Clean Reserve Warm Cotton scent. I love clean and fresh scents, so this scent is right up my alley.

IMG_1895.JPG

So far, I am loving my Sephora Play Boxes and can’t wait to see what the September box has in store, stay tuned for my review of that box. Again, it only cost $10 a month!

Let me know what your favorite subscription box is, I would love to try some new ones.

Vacation Diaries: Missing the Beach

It has been about a month since my last post, and I am so sorry. After getting back from vacation I have been swamped with work and preparing for the upcoming school year. I did want to share one last outfit post from my week in Brigantine.

IMG_1692.JPG

I found this dress at a cute shop on the Ocean City boardwalk when my parents and I spent the night there, I wrote a post about our night there. This purple off the shoulder dress is perfect for day or night. I tried to keep my look casual for a day out in the town. I paired the dress with these lace up sandals I found at TJ Maxx and my Raybans. I kept my makeup simple with just some BB cream with SPF and mascara, I don’t like feeling cake faced while at the beach.

IMG_1671.JPG

As much as I miss the relaxing beach and hanging out by the pool, I am very excited to get back to New York City for my third year. In just one short month, I will be reunited with the big apple and you will obviously come along on all my adventures. Stay tuned!

Vacation Diaries: Beach Essentials

While spending the last few days on the beach, while on vacation, I have found some things that I don’t think I could live without down the shore.

IMG_1614.JPG

Everyone loves the Victoria Secret Semi-Annual sale, including myself. Before heading on vacation, I found this canvas backpack for only $5! It was such a great deal for a beach bag, I couldn’t resist. You also need a pair of Old Navy flip flops for the beach, as well as a cute beach towel.

IMG_1611.JPG

First thing you always need at the beach is sunscreen. As often as I put on sunscreen, my pale skin always seems to get burnt. I also always like to bring a hair brush to the beach in case the wind tangles my hair. My favorite brush for the beach is my Tangle Teezer, its great for wet hair after a swim in the ocean.

A book is great to have on the beach. I have been reading “You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero this week on vacation and so far I am loving it.

IMG_1619.JPG

I hate applying heat to my hair during the summer. I just started using Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturing Hair Cream, you apply it when your hair is wet and it adds volume and texture for be achy waves. Waterproof mascara is also a must. This Maybelline mascara has been great to add length and volume to my eyelashes without looking cakey. SPF chapstick is also a must to prevent your lips from burning. You might be thinking that lips don’t burn, but oh yes they can and it can be painful! I also carry gum in my bag just to keep my breath fresh.

Vacation Diaries: Day 1

Family vacation has to be one of my favorite things about the summer. This year my family is spending a week at the Jersey Shore. We spent the night on the Ocean City boardwalk, and of course I had to document my outfit for you all.

IMG_1578

I am in love with these pants from H&M, and they only cost $7! They are so comfortable and they have pockets! Some people may no understand how great pockets truly are. I found this top at Forever 21 and the sandals are from TJ Maxx, it’s a super affordable outfit!

IMG_1582.JPG

It was such a gorgeous day and night. I did get a bit of sun burn on the beach, but hopefully the tan it develops into is worth it.

IMG_1592.JPG

I love that I get to spend time with my family this summer, before going back to NYC for school.

IMG_1575.JPG

IMG_1593.JPG

Stay tuned for more outfit looks in upcoming posts from the rest of this family vacation.

Perfect Summer Glow

With summer here, no one wants wants to look like a cake face or feel like they have overloaded on makeup. I wanted to share my favorite products that I have been using every day to create a flawless summer glow.

IMG_1445.JPG

Every morning, I make sure to start with the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil. I either mix this oil with my moisturizer or I apply it all over the face after applying moisturizer. This Primer Oil is infused with a blend of 15 essential and lipid-rich plant oils which adds tons of moisture for the dry summer heat. Since using this product, I have actually found that my skin has cleared up from acne.

IMG_1449

This next product is a bit newer to me, but I have loved it since the first application. The Becca Backlight Priming Filter, blurs imperfection and adds a slight glow under foundation. Unlike other primers, it doesn’t have that silicone feeling, it glides onto the skin with a silky finish.

IMG_1451
I am not one to spend a lot of money on foundation, I still love my Cover Girl 3-in-One foundation, but I am loving the light coverage of the Clinique Super City Block BB. I wear the shade 01 Fair, for my pale skin. This foundation is compact in this cushion packaging, which I didn’t think I would like originally, but I love the product and how easy it is to throw into my handbag and touch up throughout the day. This product also has SPF 50 to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

IMG_1454.JPG

While I may not have found my holy grail concealer yet, I love setting my under eye area with the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. This light powder keeps your concealer from creasing and adds light to your under eyes.

IMG_1453.JPG

I am super late to the beauty blender train, but that is only because I hate spending that much money on a sponge that will eventually need to get replaced. So I decided to try the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I think it is so cool that when you wet the sponge it doubles in size! I use the flat end to apply foundation, when I am not using the Clinique cushion foundation, and the tapered side to blend concealer and apply the Laura Mercier powder.

IMG_1457.JPG

I am so excited to show you guys this Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette. I have been so obsessed with it! I have been loving mixing Champagne Pop and Prosecco Pop for that #HighlightonFleek look. My favorite blush for the perfect glow is the top left called Rose Spritz.

IMG_1446.JPG

Let me know what your favorite products have been for a glowy summer look or just for summer in general, I love hearing your feedback!

Family Affairs

One of my favorite things to do on this blog is to document, not just my outfits, but also memorable moments in my life. This past weekend, I was reminded of how amazing my family truly is. My cousin Jessica became a bat mitzvah, or a woman in the Jewish heritage.

First, I would like to say I am incredibly proud of her and I am always amazed by everyone in my family.

Next, I want to share what I wore for this huge affair. This wasn’t just a small event. Nope! There was a service, which was the first outfit, a party later that night, which is my second outfit, and a brunch the next morning, which sadly I was having to much fun to document.

IMG_1333.JPG

This first outfit is what I wore to the service, on Saturday morning. If you haven’t been reading this blog for a long time, you wouldn’t know that I have worn this dress before. No, I am not an outfit repeater! Check out this post to see how I wore this dress a few years ago.

IMG_1338.JPG

The dress is actually from Target a few years back. I love the bright orange mixed with the white crocheted detailing. I paired the dress with these white Kenneth Cole heels, that were so comfortable for a services.

IMG_1342.JPG

I also wore my new everyday handbag that I bought at & Other Stories. The woven leather is great for everyday and dresses down this look just a touch.

I am thinking of posting a new What’s in My Bag, so let me know if you’d be interested in seeing what I keep in this braided shoulder bag.

IMG_1302.JPG

As you can see, I couldn’t contain how excited I was to see my entire family all together.

IMG_1310.JPG

I love this next look I wore for the party.

I found this Rachel by Rachel Roy dress on sale at Macy’s. This strapless black dress had small cut outs on the sides, which originally I didn’t think would flatter my body type, but after trying it on for the shits & giggles, I realized how great it looked on. It gave me that hourglass curve and cut out at my smallest point making me look slimmer.

IMG_1412.JPG

My shoes were another favorite. Just days before the event, I found these YSL pumps at the  consignment shop for only $99! There is a small scuff on them but it is almost unnoticeable. These shoes were such a bargain, I couldn’t let them go!

IMG_1411.JPG

My entire family was dressed to impress.

IMG_1367.JPG

Including my mom and dad.

IMG_1436.JPG

Of course I had to throw in a picture of the bat mitzvah girl enjoying her special night. She couldn’t have looked more like a princess in her ball gown and tiara.

IMG_1405.JPG

I had such an amazing time dancing and laughing with my aunts, uncles, cousins, and everyone else. It couldn’t have been a better reunion.

Life Update & OOTD

First of all, I’d like to say congrats to anyone who has graduated this spring! I just graduated myself with my associates degree last week, and will start my bachelors degree next fall. Check out my blog post talking about school here.

Today I wanted to give a little bit of an update to you guys! As you guys can see from these photos, I am not in New York City anymore. I have moved back home to New Jersey for the summer. I originally planned to stay in the city for the summer and continue working. Luckily, I was able to transfer to a store close to home.

If you didn’t know, I work for Kenneth Cole. This outfit is actually what I wore to my first day working at the new store yesterday. It was great day, and I am so excited to meet and work with a new group of great people this summer.

IMG_1230

My top is a Kenneth Cole button up that has slits up the front and back. I paired it with a plain pair of black leggings and a statement necklace for a pop of color.

IMG_1234

I also wore a pair of Kenneth Cole platforms and my favorite Ray Ban sunglasses.

IMG_1248

I am so excited for this summer. Expect tons of fun blog posts! If you don’t follow me on Instagram @styledstudent, I post photos all the time and you can stay updated with when new blog posts are up.
